Our world is facing a war against an invisible enemy with the warriors fighting on the frontlines girded in white with face masks and latex gloves. They are the doctors (& nurses) wielding the weapons of the medical profession. The front line is spread across the world wherever there are hospitals, whether built of brick and mortar, makeshift tents or floating medical cities. Many of them have become casualties of this war having selflessly treated patients and contracting the virus themselves. Everyone who is battling on these frontlines is placing themselves in harm’s way. What better time to celebrate these unsung heroes than today.
The best way that we can celebrate doctors, nurses and other medical professionals today is to join the fight by doing everything that we can do to stop the spread of this enemy that goes by many names such as The 2020 Pandemic, COVD19, or CoronaVirus. We can also do many things to support these medical professionals as well. Here is a list of 15 things that we can actively do to help stop this virus and/or to support and show our appreciation for the medical professionals and the patients that they serve:
- #1 – Follow The President’s Coronavirus Guidelines for America – 15 Days to Slow the Spread.
- #2 – Donate medical items that may be needed by hospitals such as face masks, latex gloves, hand sanitizer, etc.
- #3 – Donate Blood.
- #4 – Volunteer for The American Red Cross or organizations in your community that are serving the needs of the patients that the medical professionals serve.
- #5 – Offer child or elder care for families of Doctors, Nurses and other medical professionals that may have to work longer than usual hours.
- #6 – Send them an encouraging message, note or card thanking them for the sacrifices that they are making
- #7 – Don’t overwhelm the medical community with unnecessary visits to the doctors’ office or the ER. Do not panic or live in fear just because you start to feel sick. Treat at home as much as possible.
- Luke 5:31 says, “And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.”
- #8 – Give them a gift card for a local restaurant that delivers to their office or hospital.
- #9 – Help with planning a Doctor’s Appreciation Breakfast or luncheon for when this virus has passed. Perhaps your business has something to contribute to this event such as supplies, awards, or services.
- #10 – Give them a token of your appreciation to commemorate the sacrifices they have made before, after, and during this pandemic. (see Fearless Gift Shop below)
- #11 – Send them flowers or a gift basket. (see Fearless Gift Shop below)
- #12 – Refer your friends and family to them. Perhaps a social media shout out to them will be a way to refer people that are looking for a doctor.
- #13 – Tell them a clean joke by phone, message or in person if you require medical care.
- Proverbs 17:22a says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine..”.
- #14 – Make a donation in their name to their hospital’s community care program, the American Red Cross, or to their favourite charity.
- #15 – Most importantly, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY for all the medical professionals fighting on the front lines or supporting behind the scenes. This is an active way that we can get in the fight with them much the same way that the military has infantry support. By praying we are equipping them with the things that only God can know that they need.
- Ephesians 6:18 says, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
Please feel free to give a shout out to your favourite doctor, nurse or other medical professionals in the comment section below, on the Fearless Treasures Blog Facebook, Instagram or Twitter comments section. Share how any of these ideas have helped you or if you have ideas to add to them. I look forward to hearing from you! Till then…
Jesus’ truly,
Fearless
