Happy New Year Folks!

Yes, I am back. I kinda went off the radar for a little while for several reasons that I do not want to waste blog space boring you with now. I will say however that I finished last semester by the skin of my teeth and have decided NOT to take any classes this year and instead focus my time on writing and keeping up with my family, work, online store, and AVON business. My main writing will be on this blog but I am also going to be writing a fairy tale for my Granddaughter and outlining a series of novels that has been buzzing around in my head.

Today I want to write about new beginnings. It seems funny to me that 2018 would have to start on a Monday of all days. Because most people have Saturday and Sunday off we tend to think of Sunday as the end of the week and Monday as the first because we go back to work.  I like to see it that Sunday is the true beginning of the week and that I can congregate with an awesome group of believers to give God the first of my time in worship and diving into His word. Maybe the let down from that spiritual high is why Monday’s have ended up with such a bad reputation (Did you know that today is National Thank God It’s Monday Day?) It is having to face the day to day struggles of life and actually put into practice the things that sounded good when the preacher said them that makes Mondays manic.giphy

So here it is a Monday and a vast number of people are waking up with hangovers (Did you also know that today is National Hangover Day – no joke). I can remember many New Year Days quitting drinking “for good” because of bad hangovers. There was something about calling Ralph in the commode until my toes curled up and staggering back to a spinning bed that makes a person wake up the next day to a come to Jesus moment. I traded my Bloody Mary for a Virgin Mary (Of course today is also National Bloody Mary Day) and took heart that New Years Day was a day for new beginnings. Now that I am older I usually have to set an alarm at midnight if I want to say Happy New Year before rolling over and falling back to sleep.

missouri-map-1427396No matter whether we slept or sipped the New Year in we all woke up to a New Beginning. A clean slate called 2018. It is like we have been given a map that does not show topography and we get to plan a trip. We have to realize that wherever we are going this year or whatever way we are trying to get there, that there may be mountains and valleys on our journey that we cannot see yet. What we write on that map is how we handle the obstacles and detours. Are we going to be joyful and sing as we go or are we going to grumble and have road rage?

Stop and smell the roses!
Stop and smell the roses!

Are we going to stop and smell the roses or are we going to rush through our days breaking speed limits the whole way? I, for one, hope to zigzag this map called 2018 singing and praising my God that he allowed me to live another year. Like when I was a kid and counted mile markers as we traveled I am going to be counting my blessings instead. So let’s start a caravan of adventure this year, or how about a convoy. Beep beep, let’s get rollin! Till then…

Jesus’ truly,

Fearless

Counting Our Blessings

Thank You, Lord, for my husband and children that you have blessed my life with. Please keep them safe and happy throughout this new year of 2018.
